This has been an amazing week for RINOList.org. I have been overwhelmed with the curiosity, feedback, and support from so many of you that comment, post, and email us. Thank you so much for the encouragement and we look forward to seeing the site grow even more! Here are some of the big highlights from this past week:

Our first ever LIVE Chat went smashingly well! We are thankful for the feedback on how to make the next LIVE Chat in September even better.

Our #6 RINO is in deep, deep water in Alaska. Don’t count Murkowski out yet, as she has called in support from the RNC! We will be watching to see if Joe Miller can hold on to his lead and finish off a troublesome RINO!

Today, we have sent out the first of the FREE “Vote the Bums Out!” bumper stickers. Tons more are pouring in, get yours before the promotion is over!

Looking ahead to September, watch for the new Election HQ page, new store products, and a new promotion to be announced in next week’s President’s Post.

Please take time to read Rupert’s newest editorial. This editorial should energize us to REMEMBER NOVEMBER and VOTE THE BUMS OUT!

[Editor's Note] Footnotes for this editorial piece substantiate all the claims of this post. I ask all readers to take a look at the links posted in the Footnotes Section before posting a comment. Thank you.

The very reason this website exists is because there are politicians in America who have been for decades leading our country down a road to destruction. These politicians operate in direct opposition to the principals that are the bedrock on which our country was founded. RINOs have been and are still lending aid and comfort to these political enemies of our country, enemies who would see our country in ruin. So when I received an email from a friend the other day, I decided to include the text of the email in this post because I believe it is instructive and relevant to this site. The following is the text from the email I received.

“Barack Obama is the best thing that has happened to America in the last 100 years. Truly, he is the savior of America ‘s future. He is the best thing ever.

Despite the fact that he has some of the lowest approval ratings among recent presidents, history will see Barack Obama as the source of America ‘s resurrection. Barack Obama has plunged the country into levels of debt that we could not have previously imagined; his efforts to nationalize health care have been met with fierce resistance nationwide; TARP bailouts and stimulus spending have shown little positive effect on the national economy; unemployment is unacceptably high and looks to remain that way for most of a decade; legacy entitlement programs have ballooned to unsustainable levels, and there is a seething anger in the populace.

That’s why Barack Obama is such a good thing for America .

Obama is the symbol of a creeping liberalism that has infected our society like a cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is the face of fascism, Obama will go down in history as the face of unchecked liberalism. The cancer metastasized to the point where it could no longer be ignored.

Average Americans who have quietly gone about their lives, earning a paycheck, contributing to their favorite charities, going to high school football games on Friday night, spending their weekends at the beach or on hunting trips – they’ve gotten off the fence. They’ve woken up. There is a level of political activism in this country that we haven’t seen since the American Revolution, and Barack Obama has been the catalyst that has sparked a restructuring of the American political and social consciousness.

Think of the crap we’ve slowly learned to tolerate over the past 50 years as liberalism sought to re-structure the America that was the symbol of freedom and liberty to all the people of the world. Immigration laws were ignored on the basis of compassion. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency. Debt was regarded as a tonic to lubricate the economy. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special, while great numbers of them cannot perform basic functions of mathematics and literacy. Legislators decided that people could not be trusted to defend their own homes, and stripped citizens of their rights to own firearms. Productive members of society have been penalized with a heavy burden of taxes in order to support legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and “disabilities.” Criminals have been arrested and re-arrested, coddled and set free to pillage the citizenry yet again. Lawyers routinely extort fortunes from doctors, contractors and business people with dubious torts.

We slowly learned to tolerate these outrages, shaking our heads in disbelief, and we went on with our lives.

But Barack Obama has ripped the lid off a seething cauldron of dissatisfaction and unrest.

A former Communist is given a paid government position in the White House as an advisor to the president. Auto companies are taken over by the government, and the auto workers’ union – whose contracts are completely insupportable in any economic sense – is rewarded with a stake in the company. Government bails out Wall Street investment bankers and insurance companies, who pay their executives outrageous bonuses as thanks for the public support. Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given free lawyers. And, despite overwhelming public disapproval, Barack Obama has pushed forward with a health care plan that would re-structure one-sixth of the American economy.

Literally millions of Americans have had enough. They’re organizing, they’re studying the Constitution and the Federalist Papers, they’re reading history and case law, they’re showing up at rallies and meetings, and a slew of conservative candidates are throwing their hats into the ring. Is there a revolution brewing? Yes, in the sense that there is a keen awareness that our priorities and sensibilities must be radically re-structured. Will it be a violent revolution? No. It will be done through the interpretation of the original document that has guided us for 220 “FANTASTIC” years – the Constitution. Just as the pendulum swung to embrace political correctness and liberalism, there will be a backlash, a complete repudiation of a hundred years of nonsense. A hundred years from now, history will perceive the year 2010 as the time when America got back on the right track. And for that, we can thank Barack Hussein Obama.”

I believe the text of the forgoing email illustrates the general thinking of conservatives in America, which is why the content of the email is important. It is important because IT IS WRONG!!!

President Abraham Lincoln coined this phrase, “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.” I fear that almost all of the people of the United States of America have been fooled by President Obama. You see President Obama IS NOT a liberal. President Obama IS a communist. President Obama has been telling the American people for years that he is a communist and we have been ignoring him. He was raised by communists, mentored by communists, educated by communists and associated with communists for most of his life. He has surrounded himself with communists in the White House. He seeks financial support and advice from communists. He is a communist!

We have a man in the White House who wants to ruin our economy so he can destroy our way of life and turn our country into a communist state. The president is not alone in his desires for our country, he has many collaborators, crooked politicians, news organizations, activist organizations, foreign governments and the list goes on. Why so many people are blind to what is right in front of their faces I do not understand, but if the people of America don’t soon realize what kind of evil men we are dealing with in our federal government, we will soon be calling each other comrade.

A RINO can be extremely dangerous when he uses Moral Equivalency to advance his political schemes, and a discerning conservative should know how to identify a RINO by his tactics. According to Websters Online Dictionary, Moral Equivalence is: “…a term used in political debate, usually to criticize any denial that a moral hierarchy can be assessed of two sides in a conflict, or in the actions or tactics of two sides. It could be considered a form of the rhetorical fallacy of equivocation.” In plain terms, when a politician uses Moral Equivalency he is attempting to equate an immoral position with an opposing position of righteousness. An example of this would be when a politician claims that a woman has a right to have an abortion because it is her body, and the fetus is not a human being. Such a position is claimed by a politician when he places his idea of law on an equal plane with the natural law of God. RINOs are tricky beasts, and being aware of the behaviors of a RINO makes it easier to spot one when you are traveling through the wilds of politics.

Norm Coleman, former Senator from Minnesota, put his hat into the ring last week for the Chairmanship of the RNC. Now, last week’s discussion of current RNC grand pumba Michael Steele did show that the RNC has some room for growth in selecting its chair, but are we sure we want this type of growth? Lets take a look at the loveable fuzz ball Norm.

Antiwar Protester during the Vietnam War

Celebrated 20th Birthday at Woodstock

Inexplicable voting and policy choices

Critical of college Conservatives and William Buckley

Poor record on Illegal Immigration

Against drilling in ANWR

Some of these inexplicable choices follow inexplicable statments like this one written in a letter in 1993 to convention delegates for mayor:

I have never sought any other political office. I have no other ambition other than to be mayor. . . . I am a lifelong Democrat. Some accuse me of being the fiscal conservative in this race — I plead guilty! I’m not afraid to be tight with your tax dollars. Yet, my fiscal conservatism does not mean I am any less progressive in my Democratic ideals. From Bobby Kennedy to George McGovern to Warren Spannaus to Hubert Humphrey to Walter Mondale — my commitment to the great values of our party has remained solid.

Also in 1993, Norm got to speak at the Democratic Farmers Labor State Convention, and said this gem:

Paul Wellstone is a Democrat, and I am a Democrat. (Insert crowd boos here)

Six months later, Coleman switched parties. He is now a Republican. He was tapped by Karl Rove and George Bush in 2002 to run against Sen. Wellstone. He lost in 2008 to comedian now Senator Al Franken in a bitter election battle that just now took a turn for the bizarre as it has been revealed that possibly 1,000 former felons voted in the election.

We ask the RNC not to consider Norm Coleman for Chairmanship. Norm is NOT what our party stands for, and does not represent the growing power of the Tea Party Movement. Norm has a place in politics in Minnesota, and he has done well there. That does not mean that he should represent the whole party on the national stage. We are at pivot time in our national debate between Progressive and Conservative policies. Norm is not the man to bear that mantle.

If the RNC continues to foister on the Party candidates and Chairmen that do not align with our beliefs nor the beliefs of a majority of the American Population, why should we support them in elections? Please RNC, do not put another RINO in charge.

The argument for another 6 years of Sen. McCain is a very hollow one. Lets take a look at some of the best clips from the Straight Talk Express.

For those of you who think that we could take ANY politician’s life time appearances in front of the camera and get this sort of distortion, I invite you to try. Sen. McCain is legendary for this sort of political ineptitude in front of the Mainstream Media (now Regime Media). McCain’s Moderate RINO Republicanism did not win the 2008 Election. McCain’s Gang of 14 did not help to solve on going problems in the Senate’s rules for the confirmation of judges. McCain’s amnesty for Illegals is even more clownish today than it was then. In 32 days, Arizonans will get the chance to finally give Sen. John “Maverick” McCain the retirement he deserves. Please help send a better politican to Washington. One that has been endorsed by the Tea Parties and many others. We at RINOList proudly endorse J. D. Hayworth for Senate against John “RINO” McCain. JD. GOOD LUCK ON THE 24TH!

UPDATE!!! Here is a piece from the Carpetbagger Report that a source sent me. This is from the 2007 campaign, however it was never really put in the spotlight. It seems that McCain thought that it was a good idea to switch parties, but got beat to the punch. Guess he wanted to walk in the footsteps of his good friend Arlen Specter. Any thoughts?

On FOX News this past Sunday, Republican Senator Lindsey ‘Grahamnesty’ of South Carolina decided that he needed to stick his foot in his mouth about Supreme Court Nominee Justice Sotomayor. His nuanced approach to the racist comments made by Justice Sotomayor is in stark contrast to his own comments to La Raza. It seems that if you are a Latina woman that says you are better than a white man in deciding the law, its a “troubling” statement, but if you are a white man that says illegal immigrants need to come to America legally, you are a bigot. Makes perfect sense, Sen. Grahamnesty. Sounds like a great piece of literature we *should* have all read in school.

There is a consideration behind Graham’s comments that is regretable for an American born into freedom. It comes from a wing of the Republican elite that sees the illegal immigrant population as future voters. They pander at every opportunity to the different social organizations like La Raza. This pandering attitude is a recipe for disaster. With the exception of Canada, our hemisphere is dominated by soft Socialist countries, all still Third World, that enable these organizations. Our ideas are better and stronger than those of Socialist regimes in our world, because they are not bound to a social or ethinic class. By pandering to the political and emotional sensibilities of people who do not know nor care about the American heritage, these RINOs are dooming our country to cease to exist as a beacon of liberty for the world. Not all Latin Americans believe in Socialism, not all Latin Americans want to be taken care of by the government, and not all Latin Americans want to give the American franchise to illegal immigrants. The great secret of our American Experiment is that it is the inner yearning of all people. It is an idea that ignores experience or richness of history. All people can enjoy it in their own country if they are exposed to its granduer and if their leaders give to them the engine of freedom. Our young experiment cannot be allowed to be influenced by someone’s physical makeup or past history. When we give the power to dispense justice, we must give it to people that will interpret the law, not empathize with either party. If we allow such influence on our court, our experiment will fail.

Putting it succinctly, A RINO is a person who claims to be a Republican, but who does not hold to basic conservative Republican party ideals.

It is relatively easy to spot a RINO, because they do not hold to a traditional conservative Republican value system.

A RINO will NOT hold to one or more of the following core Republican positions:

Belief in individual person’s right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, whether man, woman, elderly, child or yet unborn.

Defending the Constitution and the Bill of Rights; especially the right to keep and bear arms, and the right to practice the religion of ones own choosing.

Protecting the rights of the family against illegitimate government intrusions.

Standing for a strong national defense, and fulfilling our commitment to our veterans.

Keeping our commitments to our allies, and opposing totalitarian regimes.

Holding the Federal government to its legitimate constitutional functions.

Opposing judicial activism, and oppressive taxation by congress, states and local governments.

Defending the right to commerce, and the individual’s right to work.

Sound environmental stewardship, and opposition to protectionism.

An affordable private healthcare system that is accessible to all.

Supporting individual state public education systems by keeping them local.

Supporting local law enforcement, and defending our borders.

Updated: As per the suggestion in the comments section, any Republican that has voted for any version of the Healthcare Bill IS a RINO. Any Republican that has voted for the Wall Street Bailouts IS a RINO. These two transformative votes could not be a more clear indication of core beliefs.

Opposing all bailouts of Wall Street Firms

Opposing the mandate to buy insurance foisted on the American people

Supports the repeal of the Healthcare Bill signed by President Obama

This is not an exclusive list, but does cover those general areas most usually forsaken by a RINO.
